LTER Information Management

We are pleased to announce that the Spring 2008 Issue of DataBits, the electronic newsletter for Information Managers, is now available online at: http://databits.lternet.edu/index.php/databits/issue/current

This issue was published using Open Journal Systems, an open source software product of the Public Knowledge Project (http://pkp.sfu.ca/?q=ojs). Articles can be downloaded individually as PDF or Rich Text Format files, or the entire issue can be downloaded as a single printable PDF file with bookmarks.

Last December, Inigo San Gil represented LTER at the 5th Workshop of the Genomics Standards Consortium (GSC) as part of the outreach efforts in the biology community.

The outreach effort involved informing the young consortium about the LTER Metadata Standard, EML and explaining its relationship to the current working metadata standard developed in this group, the so called "Minimum Information about a Genome/Metagenome Sequence" (MIGS/MIMS).

Few things to make contributing News easier:

• All news are of the content type 'story':
• click on 'create content' and choose the content type 'story'
• add a title (if you try to stick to some consistent format it will be easier to read through the list of titles)
• add the category this falls under from the pulldown
• add the body of the text
