Status of LTER Synthesis Efforts, including OUP Books, April, 2002:

Brief overview of volumes in the LTER Network:

This is a farewell address from your Publications Committee chair.  I have enjoyed working with the committee over the past five years.  Patty Sprott has facilitated matters greatly, and I commend her assistance to all of the co-editors who are in the final throes of manuscript preparation, working on Tables and Figures, etc. Our committee has worked over 95% of the time via e-mails; some contacts have been made at ESA Annual meetings, as well.  Production of volumes should increase markedly in 2003, reaching an historic peak in 2004, if all goes according to plan.

The following is a listing of publications completed, or in intermediate or final stages of progress, within the LTER Network.  Note that we now have 13 volumes in progress, with several due to OUP by summer and fall of 2002, and more coming in 2003.  Our newest listing is the NPP volume, being planned by Tim Fahey and Alan Knapp, eds.

The Antarctic sites have used the American Geophysical Union to get their syntheses published, but a majority of our book-length synthesis efforts are concentrated in the LTER Synthesis series.
